Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket from EUR 23: trains, buses and GVB region-wide for 1 to 3 days, covering Zaanse Schans, Haarlem, Volendam and Keukenhof.
The Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket, ARTT for short, extends the visitor ticket idea beyond the city line: 1 to 3 days of unlimited travel from EUR 23 on regional trains, three bus company networks and the full GVB system. It is the ticket that turns windmills, tulip fields, Haarlem and the fishing villages into simple day trips without a rental car or a tour bus.
Where can you go with the Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket?
By train: the whole Amsterdam region second class, including Zaandijk Zaanse Schans for the windmills, Haarlem for the Grote Markt and the Frans Hals Museum, Zandvoort aan Zee for the beach, plus Schiphol, Almere, Hilversum and more than forty stations in between. By bus: Connexxion and EBS lines across the region, which is how you reach Volendam, Marken and Edam. In tulip season the dedicated Keukenhof buses from RAI, Schiphol, Hoofddorp and Haarlem are covered too. And inside the city, everything GVB operates, trams to ferries.
What does the Region Travel Ticket not cover?
Intercity trips beyond the region, so Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague need normal train tickets. Taxis and the sightseeing boats stay separate as always.
Who should buy the ARTT?
Anyone with at least one serious day trip planned. The Zaanse Schans round trip alone runs about EUR 10 by train, Volendam by bus similar, Keukenhof transport more: one excursion plus normal city riding and the ARTT already beats buying pieces. It pairs beautifully with the I amsterdam City Card, whose region perks, the Zaans Museum, the Haarlem museums and the Volendam to Marken ferry, are free entry once the ARTT has carried you there. City only visitors should stick to the plain GVB ticket or the ATT.
How do the Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket days work?
Like the ATT: calendar days, midnight to midnight, 1, 2 or 3 in a row. The efficient pattern is obvious once you see it: put your day trips inside the ARTT window and your pure city days outside it on cheaper tickets.
